Imran Perretta is a visual artist, writer, director and composer from London. His sound, installation and moving image work has been exhibited and performed at institutions internationally, including Tate Britain, Somerset House, Secession, ICA LA, BALTIC, Spike Island, Chisenhale Gallery and others. His work is included in a number of public and private art collections including the Tate Collection and the Arts Council England.
Imran was named a Jarman Award nominee in 2019 and won a Turner Prize Bursary in 2020 for his moving-image work, the destructors. He was a recipient of the Paul Hamlyn Foundation Artist Award in 2023.
His most recent solo exhibiton, A Riot In Three Acts, opened at Somerset House and travelled to HOME in Manchester, debuting a large scale installation work and a suite of new music for string quartet, A Requiem for the Dispossessed, commissioned and performed by the Manchester Camerata.
His debut, narrative feature film, Ish, which he co-wrote, directed and composed, was commissioned by the BBC and the BFI, and premiered at Venice Critic’s Week 2025, winning the Audience Award.
Ish is currently touring festivals internationally and is set for general release next year. the destructors will also be on year-long display at the Tate Britain from July 2026.
